The asian lilies are starting to bud out. We have quite a few at the townhouse, scattered through all the areas. The thing about asian lilies is you get one chance. If they get broken, pack it in until next year. They do not rebloom. Fingers crossed.
The tall pink ‘Elodie’ asian lilies out front are blooming. They used to be double but over the years have moved back to single. Still beautiful!
Many years ago a work friend and I traded asian lily divisions. I brought her some pink asian lilies and she brought me these lovely white asian lilies.
The buds (and subsequently the outside of the blooms) have a tinge of pink.

The white asian lilies are the last to bloom and still have a few buds.
We also have a few Elodie bulbs in front from 15 years ago that bloom lightly. T I should refresh those. They have been gorgeous over the years.
The first hosta to have scapes, and blooms, is looking good next to the pink asian lilies.

And the red asian lilies are starting to bloom.

The squirrels have been very naughty. They dug up one of my daylily seedlings that I nurtured for 2 months from seed.
Was not happy about that. Repels granules are now on the way. So sorry squirrels …
But not these two. They are good 😉
It has been a long wait for the lilies to bloom this year. But yesterday, the first Asian lily bloomed in our townhome garden.

Up north we traded seeing waves of purple lupines alongside the roads in June for fields of yellow buttercups and white daisies in July.

Back at the townhouse, we are starting to trade asian lily blooms for gladiola blooms.
There are two sets of asian lilies still blooming. The rest will be trimmed back to greens tomorrow. I do not harvest those seeds.
The potted gladiolas are starting to bloom. The hummingbirds love them, and we enjoy seeing them visit. For now we have put away the feeders until fall. There is an abundance of natural food coming up in the garden.
